How is a pickup camper built?

Build it yourself! All you need is an off-road car and a hard top. This means of transport is very popular in the US, where massive campers are overtaken by more manoeuvrable and streamlined pickup campers. You don’t have to choose anymore between a camper and a car – you can have both. The only question is: how is a pickup camper made? And what is it made of?

Don’t judge it by the size. The designers fit into this small space bedroom, a kitchen and a bathroom, at the same time providing comfort and more luxury than you could expect in a private, mobile hotel. So, what is a camper clamshell made of? What amenities can you find inside?

Sturdy construction

 

Were it not for the construction, solid and resistant to external factors, travelling in extreme conditions would be impossible. The pickup camper’s construction is what allows you to drive on sandy, rocky and muddy roads.

The main body of AZAR4 clamshell is made of fiber glass and boatbuilding plywood. Fiber glass is perfectly resistant to chemical and mechanical factors, hard and at the same time flexible when processed, suitable for making constructions in all forms. Because of these properties fiber glass is used in boats, cars and roofs. Boatbuilding plywood provides even more resistance to water, guaranteeing the pickup clamshell’s aesthetic appearance even when it’s used extensively.

A pickup camper is equipped with rear doors with stairs and a lock, roof windows with a ventilation function, and side windows integrated with a ventilation system, blinds and a mosquito net.

Let’s look inside!

 

It’s the pickup camper’s interior that you’re probably most interested about. Let’s look inside this mysterious clamshell. The space may be small, but it’s incredibly well arranged! The designers have used every square inch to create a room for sleep and rest, cooking and bathing. The bedroom is furnished with a bed with a foam mattress, as well as shells, storage areas and a special mechanism to separate the night zone from the day zone. You can adjust the furnishing to your needs, to sleep as well as at home.

The day zone provides enough room for sofas with backrests, which can be pulled out and serve as beds. A table with adjustable height is perfect for meals, and fittings will contain all your things. On special request the clamshell can be equipped with an MP3 player and speakers. Planning to make an outdoor party?

Kitchen is the heart of every home so we had to include it. You can prepare your meals on a double burner gas cooker, put your groceries in a mini fridge and keep dishes in kitchen cabinets. Unfortunately, you won’t have a break from washing up – there’s a kitchen sink, too.

If there’s a kitchen, there has to be a bathroom. In a pickup camper you’ll find separate space for a shower, a morning and evening toilet. A premium version of AZAR4 is equipped with a shower, a washbasin, a travel toilet, and even a mirror and towel hangers.

A pickup clamshell with water, electricity and light

It’s hard to imagine holidays without water and electricity, and the pickup camper’s designers know that, so they have installed a wiring, and in some models also heating and air conditioning, as well as electric sockets and USB. If there’s a bathroom, there has to be water, which is kept in a special container, larger or smaller depending on the model. Don’t worry, camper travel doesn’t have to be a time travel into distant past when nobody imagined you can have running water at home.

Pickup camper enables you to spend free time outdoors until late night and not necessarily in a romantic scenery by candlelight. It provides light, usually ceiling lighting, and in some models also kitchen lights. To save energy and environment we have used LED diodes – they’re efficient, durable, environmentally friendly and emit light which is pleasant for human eye.

What seems a simple construction you don’t expect much from, turns out to be an impregnable, mobile home, safe, comfortable and cosy.
